DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nThe Viva Las Vagus 2 Day Introductory Continuing Education Course totalling 14 hours for both days aims to educate Manual Therapists about the health benefits for patients from treatment of the Vagus Nerve.  Manual Practitioners ( Registered Massage Therapists\, Manual Osteopathic Therapists\, Physiotherapists\, Occupational Therapists\, Kinesiologists\, Chiropractors and Traditional Chinese Medicine ) will have the opportunities to watch demonstrations\, share discussions and manually work in partners throughout both days in a Supervised setting. \nPreparatory home study prior to attending the first morning please complete the following lessons:\nLesson One: Watch the five Vagus Nerve videos.\nLesson Two: Read the two articles based on professionally conducted Vagus nerve research.\nLesson Three: Draw the pathway of the Vagus nerve starting from the medulla oblongata\, be sure to label all of the branches. Submit the drawing assignment through the LMS. \nIn class time involves:\n25 % theory discussion and power points involving anatomy\, physiology and diseases of the Vagus Nerve\n15% demonstration of assessment\, treatment and home care techniques\n60% hands on Partner Practice involving assessments\, treatments and home care for the Vagus Nerve \nLearning Outcomes\nWhat to Expect: \n\nLearn how assess and recognize shifts in their own vagal tone\nKnow where the vagus access sites are on the body\nUnderstand the vagus nerve trends and theories\, both over the last 20 years and present day\nRecognize the signs\, symptoms\, and diagnoses involving the vagus nerve with their patients\nLearn the anatomy of CNX\, embryological development\, reflexes and functions\nBecome confident assessing the vagus nerve\nTreat the vagus nerve through various modalities:  lymphatically\, fascially\, with craniosacral therapy and  through osteoarticulations (MET)\nPractice and experience vagal self-care methods\, for the therapist and the patient\nUnderstanding of the Social Engagement System\, HPA Axis\, Gut-Brain and Heart-Brain involvement with the CNX\nExperience a heightened vagal tone and the benefits of ‘real’ treatment experiences in class\nEnjoy the two days together\nThe whole course is designed and offered with everyone’s vagus tone in mind….
